A City And The Capital Of Central Province. The City Is Beside An Artificial Lake 1,600 Feet Above Sea Level, About 74 Miles North East Of Colombo. Kandy Is A Trading Center, Handling Tea, Cacao, Rubber, Vegetables And Rice. In The City Is A Royal Palace And Nearby Are Botanic Gardens.

Kandy’s Dalada Maligawa, Which Enshrines A Tooth Reputed To Be From Buddha, Is The Most Sacred Buddhist Temple In The World. Kandy Was For Centuries The Capital Of The Kings Of Kandy. The British Exiled The Last Ruler In 1815.
